Visiting Artist Studio

The Fine Arts Department at UMPRUM invites an internationally renowned artist to lead the Visiting Artist Studio each semester. The invited artist works with students on a selected one-semester project. The artistic profiles and approaches of the invited artists vary, ensuring a broad range of artistic practices and perspectives within the programme. The studio is based in one of Kafkárna’s spaces – its historic “North Studio” – while the selection of invited artists is also informed by the current themes and programme of the UMPRUM Centre for Art and Ecology. Students participating in the studio come from UMPRUM as well as from other art academies and universities.
The Visiting Artist Studio has been running since 2016. It is led by artist Sláva Sobotovičová. Invited artists have included, among others:
