GARDEN – THE IN BETWEEN OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE: sharing practices and strategies

7 – 9 October 2022

In autumn 2022, Kafkárna organised the opening event of a series of three international symposia focusing on the themes of ecofeminism, degrowth as a strategy, communities, and public space. The opening symposium, GARDEN, took the form of a working meeting bringing together researchers, artists, and artistic collectives whose practices and research interests engage with the themes outlined above. The event was developed in collaboration with artist Nina Ossavy, founder of our partner organisation CAN – Concerned Artists Norway, and its selected members who prepared site-specific artistic interventions. The aim of the first gathering and the subsequent symposia was to collectively explore ways in which art can address ecological issues and contribute a stronger voice to the search for possible solutions.
