Over the several years of its activity, Kafkárna has published a wide range of small as well as larger-scale publications. These include artists’ zines, art collections, (video) cookbooks and herbariums, workbooks etc. The rich history of the site is also documented in the collective publication Kafkárna / House & Garden (2024) and the poetic collection Theorem of the Stone Garden (2023).

The Shell: Garden as a world, world as a garden

How does a garden speak? What can we take from it, and what should we give back? These are just some of the questions we explored together in the garden of Kafkárna/ Centre for Art and Ecology, which generously opened its gates to us: The Shell workbook is just one of the traces we leave behind.

For us, The Shell is above all about spending time together and searching together, but also about a collective unconstrained by age, which took shape while working on its first and second issues. We would like to thank Kafkárna for supporting this issue and for giving us the opportunity to collaborate with a team with whom we share many values and ideas, and who have played an important role in keeping this magical, semi-wild garden alive and cared for.
